Rev. Canon Dan Tantimonaco
Rector

Canon Dan and Robbi have been married for 27 years and have two grown children, Janine, age 25, and Anthony, age 24, both of whom live in Houston. Dan’s background is in accounting and Robbi is a physical therapist.

The family left Coral Springs, Florida in 2002 when the Diocese of Southeast Florida sent Dan to the Seminary of the Southwest. Canon Dan was ordained to the Diaconate on April 17, 2005 in Boca Raton, Florida. Upon graduating in 2005, Bishop Smith invited Dan and his family to come to Arizona where he was ordained to the Sacred Order of Priests on November 5, 2005 at Trinity Cathedral, Phoenix. While serving at the Cathedral he served as the Canon Associate with duties including pastoral care as well as pre-marital counseling.

In 2006 Dan accepted a call to St. Paul’s in Payson as their first full-time priest. By 2010 he took St. Paul’s from a mission to full parish status. While at St. Paul’s he served the diocese on the Diocesan Council, Chapel Rock Finance Committee, Chapel Rock Board and the last four years as the President of Standing Committee and currently serves on the Diocesan Finance Committee.

During seminary he took Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) and upon completing the program was asked by North Austin Medical Center and St. David’s Hospital to work PRN as a Chaplain. Over the years his love of pastoral care has grown. The past fourteen years in Payson he has served as the Lead Chaplain at the local hospital.

Canon Dan believes his pastoral, administrative and liturgical gifts will serve St. Stephen’s well in the years to come.
