Family Promise is a very successful and privately funded
program for helping homeless families. The faith community of
St. Stephens has partnered with others of all denominations to
provide meals, a safe and private sleeping space, and volunteers
who create a compassionate "home away from home" atmosphere.
Family Promise's mission is "to reduce family
homelessness in Greater Phoenix by empowering a network of
compassionate interfaith volunteers, along with community
services to provide food, shelter, and life skills so that
families can transition from homelessness to self-sufficiency".
