The Rev. Gregory J. Fry
Father Greg is 48, married to Lisa for 18 years, with 16 year old
daughter Zoë. Father Greg, from Kentucky, met Lisa, from Maine,
at Virginia Theological Seminary where Greg was studying for
ordination and Lisa studying for her Masters degree in
Theology. Lisa has family in Tempe.
Father Fry, a cradle Episcopalian, loves the Episcopal Church,
loves that it allows differing ideas about theology, ministry,
worship, and actually encourages these ideas to exist in
“creative tension”. His personal style tends toward the
traditional, and on occasion he loves to pull out the stops and
add liturgical drama with “smells and bells.” He has
incorporated services from the Celtic tradition, used other
liturgies from prayer books in the Anglican tradition, as well
as an earthy jazz mass, the Missa Gaia.
Greg has ministered in missions in Kentucky, Wyoming, and
Florida, has worked with youth, young adults, and served as
administrator and chaplain of a church pre-school. He has worked
with retirees as well, and worked with criminal offenders in the
largest non-profit in Cincinnati. He is trained as a substance
abuse counselor. He has worked in the Navajo Nation and is
familiar with Native spiritualities. For the past 5 years,
Greg has led spirituality groups and assisted individual church
members with spiritual direction. |
