Parish Life
Someone made the observation that St. Stephen's had many elderly folks who might appreciate a place to spend Thanksgiving Day as their family had grown up and perhaps moved away. In 2002 Darrell and April Priddy invited all of St. Stephen's and their friends and families to join them in Frederickson Hall for a Thanksgiving Feast to Remember. A tradition was born.
Each
year St. Stephen's
families and friends
are invited to join
the Priddy family
for this wonderful
feast. The Priddy's
provide the turkey,
dressing, and gravy.
Those attending are
asked to bring
something to add to
the feast. If
contributing a food
item was difficult,
set up and/or clean
up could be the
contribution.
Who comes? Everybody: elderly folks, whole families with several generations, single folks, divorced folks (when it is not their turn to have the children), there was even a request from someone too sick to travel (out of own) to be with family (we made a plate to go). The best part is those who come feel at home and even invite friends to join them. There have been as many as 40 and as few as 25 in attendance.
Sometimes we linger and play games. The little ones enjoy the playground. Leftovers are available for that all important turkey sandwich on Friday.
Come join us for the Thanksgiving Day Feast!
