"I Believe….”
Sundays 9:15 am
So begins the Apostles’ Creed, which the Catechism describes
as “the ancient creed of Baptism.”
Are creeds an anachronistic artifact of the early Church? Or
do they have meaning for modern life?
Do we stumble over some of the statements of what we say we
believe about God?: “….creator of heaven and earth….conceived by
the power of the Holy Spirit….on the third day he rose again….”
Are creeds to be used as the litmus test for being a “real”
Christian? Are creedal statements our “line in the sand”
relative to other belief systems?
Grapple with these and other questions about what it means to
believe in the Adult Formation sessions that will be held on
Sundays, at 9:15 am, beginning October 1. We will be using
In Search of Belief by Joan Chittister to guide our
discussion. Copies of the book will be available at the first
session. Participants are asked to reimburse the parish for the
$11.00 cost of the book.
