The Rev.
Julie L. O'Brien
Priest in Charge under Special
Circumstances
The Rev. Julie O’Brien was ordained to the priesthood in June 2009 in the Diocese of Arizona. Julie attended the Episcopal Seminary of the Southwest in Austin, Texas and served two years with St. Mark’s parish in San Marcos as her field placement. She served as Vicar at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit in north Phoenix prior to her call to St. Stephen’s. Julie is active in various ministries in the Diocese, including Diocesan Chaplain to the Daughters of the King, Vice President of Episcopal Community Services and is a member of FaithNet an interfaith group focused on advocacy and building awareness of mental health issues.
Prior to her ordination, Julie worked in finance and technology fields, and had her own management consultant business. She has travelled throughout the United States and has lived in twelve different states, but cannot imagine a better place to live than Arizona. Julie enjoys the outdoors, hiking, hot yoga, reading, and movies. Most of her family has migrated to Arizona, one brother still lives in Illinois, and Julie truly enjoys having her family close. Julie has a grown daughter Erin, who lives in Chandler with her husband Dan and their three year old son, Sean.
Julie is excited to accept the call to serve the community of St. Stephen’s and looks forward to our partnership in ministry.
